Consulting Options

The types of material I will read are:  screenplays, novels, TV specs and/or pilots. They can be in any genre. I will not address short story or poetry writing as it is not my specialty.

You are coming to me for instruction, constructive criticism, support and educational purposes. I am not here to tell you how amazing your project is and just leave at that. You may very well have the next Little Miss Sunshine, and I will be the first to tell you such a thing, but I am not here to just be "nice". You will receive top-notch education on your personal writing, and I will make it my intention to help you live up to your very best.

 

 

20-Minute Phone Consultation:  FREE

This will be more of a "get-to-know-you" kind of conversation, but even more so, a chance for you to get to know ME. Everyone is different and you may find that I'm not the right person to consult you on your writing. Or, you may find I'm perfect (I doubt it, but hey...never know).  We will discuss your writing history, preferences, goals, genre, career aspirations, and the one project you are most excited about. I will give you my initial creative thoughts and you can decide if you would like to move forward with other Consulting options. There is no obligation!

 

45-Minute Phone, One-on-One: $80

This is an intro, but I will read your project's outline, treatment and/or summary and give you verbal notes via phone. This can be a very helpful session in that it's cost-effective for you, and you get a professional's insight on aspects of your project such as Concept, Character Development, and Structure (and even Scene Writing). Everything can be said about your project in just a summary, so make it good!

 

1-Hour Phone Evaluation: $200 - Novel or Screenplay

This is the "flagship" option, if you will.  If you are submitting a screenplay (TV or Film) I will read the entire script, draft a set of comprehensive notes that discuss Concept, Character Development, Structure and Scene Writing, email these notes to you (after the evaluation) as well as discuss my notes via phone for up to one hour. The conversation will be very open-minded and considered a "conversation". Yes, I will do most of the talking, but I look forward to your comments and thoughts as well. The conversation won't be a "brainstorming" session necessarily (I can't write the script for you), but I am happy to let you bounce ideas off of me. I will give you my very honest opinion regarding your project, and help you focus your efforts on making it the best it can be.

If you are writing a novel, I will read the first 30 pages of your book AND a full summary. If you are writing a TV (spec or Pilot) or Film screenplay, I will also expect a one-page summary (two pages if ABSOLUTELY necessary).

 

Weekly Consultation: $400 - $1000

The length in which the consultation lasts depends on you, your budget and your project's needs. Please email me to request more information regarding a long term consulting service. The long term service will include exercises for you to either build a first draft of a screenplay or an outline for a novel (novel will include specific scene writing as well). The exercises will lead you through specific assignments with "due dates".
